2006 Merryvale Cabernet Sauvignon Saint Helena
Our St. Helena Cabernet is grown entirely at our Estate Vineyard located in the hills high above St. Helena. This David Abreu farmed property has consistently delivered lots that stand out for their plush fruitiness and silky tannins. The grapes were cold soaked for five days prior to fermentation and spent a total of 38 days on skins. The powerful fruit expression allowed us to age the wine for a full 20 months in 100% new French Oak.
Aromas of blackberry, black cherry, ripe plum, baking spices, cedar and cocoa. The mouthfeel is big and rich with ripe, round tannins in perfect harmony with the acidity. After a decade-plus of bottle aging, this wine remains balanced and intense with an explosion of secondary and tertiary flavors and aromas adding to its complexity. Our favorite pairings include a seared prime NY Strip and roasted leg of lamb.
