2014 Starmont Pinot Noir, Lee Vineyard
Handpicked on September 3rd from Block H of Lee Vineyard in Carneros, these grapes were carefully sorted then cold soaked for five days. Fermentation lasted for six days and the wine underwest extended maceration for seven days. Using 33% new French oak (33% once used, 17% twice used and 17% neutral), the wine spent 20 months in barrel before bottling; nine months on primary lees and eleven months on light lees. The wine was racked twice and bottled without fining.
This wine tends to be the lightest and most feminine of the line-up, evoking Burgundian thoughts. A delicate nose of rose petals and red cherry, showing a silky finesse on the palate with soft tannins and light acidity creating a wonderful balance.
