2013 Merryvale Malbec
Sourced from a high elevation mountain vineyard, the fruit intended for the Merryvale Malbec was handpicked and double sorted before going under cold soak. This wine is a blend of two grape lots, one lot fermented with 30% whole cluster for 30 days at 82F and the other fermented at 92F, both were fermented with native yeasts. The wine was aged for 22 months in 50% new French oak barrels.
Deep purple in color with notes of Blackberry, plum and carmel on the nose. This is a mouth coating and brooding wine with flavors of cherry, dried sage and hints of smoke, followed by a long smooth acidity. With proper cellaring, it will drink beautifly for up to 15 years.
